The 3rd Annual Foster Grant Ironman World Champsionship will take place on Saturday November 8th. Road and lane closures are planned along the 56 mile route throughout Pinellas County. Traffic impact for Clearwater Beach will be heavily impacted because most of the event will take place at Pier 60.
All of South Gulfview Boulevard will be closed from 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10 and Coronado will be closed from the Clearwater Beach roundabout to Devon Drive starting at 3 a.m. on race day. Residents should plan to leave the beach before 7 a.m. to avoid the traffic impacts. Between 7 and 9 a.m. North Beach residents will have limited access to the roundabout. South Beach residents and those needing access to and from south beach after 3 a.m. will need to use the Belleair Causeway.
